Strategic leader in aligning human resources management with business objectives and operations joins Epic's fast-paced, rapid-growth team.
SAN DIEGO, Nov. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Epic Sciences announced today the appointment of Toni Wayne as vice president of human resources. Ms. Wayne has more than 20 years of experience as a senior level human resources executive in diverse life sciences companies. At Epic, Ms. Wayne will develop best-of-class strategies and processes that facilitate Epic's continued growth including organizational development, recruitment, training and talent management. From the accurate and rapid enumeration and characterization of circulating tumor cells (CTCs), Epic is developing new ways to deliver insights into disease status and therapeutic response of a patient's cancer across each clinical decision point.

Prior to joining Epic Sciences, Toni Wayne was vice president of Human Resources at Prometheus Laboratories, where she was a member of the executive team, leading human resources strategic planning and talent management. In 2010 she was honored as a San Diego Human Resources Professional of the Year for mid-sized companies. Prior to Prometheus, she held the position of vice president of Human Resources for Baxter Healthcare's BioScience division, where she directed Human Resources for the division's North American operations, and, ultimately, for the division's global Research and Development and Commercial Operations. Ms. Wayne also was vice president of Human Resources for Elan's Biopharmaceutical division. She started her career in biotech with Hybritech Incorporated, where she held varying positions of management responsibility in Human Resources, Manufacturing, Quality and Project Management. Ms. Wayne is also a board member of the San Diego Biotech Employment Development Coalition.
