The Rusnano InfraFund, the infrastructure-financing arm of Rusnano, Russia’s largest nanotech company, has unveiled its new biotech engineering service center with an overall budget of $3.5m. The InfraFund is contributing $1.8m, the Russian news agency TASS reported , citing a source in the nanotech giant.
The engineering service center will focus on the development of technologies for agriculture and chemical industries. One of the Center’s partners in the endeavor is GosNIIGenetika, a government-owned research center developing industrial biotechnologies based on its proprietary fundamental research in genetics, bioengineering, immunology and other fields. Another collaborator is Ekologia, a Russian company that offers biotech companies modernization solutions.
The key area for the new Center will be the rendering of services in biotech enterprise engineering (for example, the development of technology for industrial-scale sugar fermentation). Also its clients will be companies that reprocess renewable raw material (for example, converting waste into fodder).
