Vaccination will become a driver of economic growth in the 21st century

Speaking at the Congress of the National Medical Chamber, Nikolai Briko, the Academician of RAS, Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences and Member of the Scientific and Technical Council of Nacimbio, said that this century is the age of vaccines, and the objectives of preventive vaccination are expanding significantly.

Today, the vaccinations are used not only to reduce disease incidence, mortality and disability rates, but also to increase life expectancy and ensure active longevity. According to Nikolai Briko, the vaccination will become a driver of economic growth in the 21st century. The academician noted that, to increase its effectiveness, the National Vaccination Schedule should include the vaccines against varicella, HPV, haemophilus influenzae, and rotavirus at the federal level. Nikolai Briko also identified the gaps existing in the manufacturing of combination vaccines, the number of which should be significantly expanded.

Currently, the companies, that are part of Nacimbio, are actively developing new combination drugs and preparing for the transfer of technologies to manufacture the vaccines for prevention of haemophilus influenzae, measles, rubella, mumps, varicella, and rotavirus infection.

The Russian Minister of Health Veronika Skvortsova said that, in 10 years, the flu vaccination coverage doubled up to 56 million people, that is more than 38% of the population in Russia, an unprecedented figure in the Russian history. This allowed to reduce the incidence of flu and the share of its complicated forms.
