The Russian Minister of Health Veronika Skvortsova deposited the instrument of ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on the counterfeiting of medical products and similar crimes involving threats to public health (MEDICRIME Convention) with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland.

“Today, we are pleased to deposit the instrument of ratification on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. This event will no doubt contribute to strengthening our contacts,” said Veronika Skvortsova.

She added that Russia would like to substantially expand the range of collaboration and go beyond just fighting against falsified and counterfeit products.

“We are doing a lot to establish a quality control system for medical care, medicinal products and medical devices. In 2016, we adopted a law on biomedicine, which is very emblematic for our country. Now, we used it as a basis for preparing a draft law on donorship. We know how much attention the Council of Europe is paying to these issues,” said Veronika Skvortsova.

In turn, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland thanked the Minister and mentioned the role played by Russia in the fight against falsified products in the medical sphere.
