European Commission proposed a new research and innovation program

For the next long-term EU budget 2021-2027, the Commission proposed €100 billion for research and innovation. The new programme – Horizon Europe – will build on the achievements and success of the previous research and innovation programme (Horizon 2020) and keep the EU at the forefront of global research and innovation.

Horizon Europe is the most ambitious research and innovation programme ever. The proposal was made as part of the EU’s proposal for the next EU long-term budget. Horizon Europe will incorporate policy missions to ensure the effectiveness of research and innovation funding by pursuing clearly defined targets.

The Commission has engaged policy experts to develop studies, case studies and reports on how a mission-oriented policy approach will work.
