Russia will expand the subsidies for drug development and manufacturing

The Ministry of Industry and Trade plans to expand the subsidies for the projects in the pharmaceutical industry. This was announced by Olga Makarkina, Head of the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Division, Department for the Development of Pharmaceutical and Medical Industry, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, at the round table held during IPhEB&CPhI Russia forum on March 29.

The round table of the Ministry of Industry and Trade was organized to discuss the manufacturing of pharmaceutical substances. Olga Makarkina noted that Russia produces substances for 241 INNs from the list of Vital and Essential Drugs (VED). 36 companies have a license only for manufacturing the active substances.

“As part of the state program, the Ministry of Industry and Trade provided support for 132 medicinal products, of which 65 are pharmaceutical substances. In 2015, the Ministry adopted a decision to subsidize leasing payments and purchases of equipment for manufacturing the substances,” said Olga Makarkina.

The representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade added that in the near future the website “regulation.gov.ru” will publish draft amendments to government decrees regarding partial compensation of costs incurred in the clinical trials and organization of manufacturing of medicinal products and pharmaceutical substances. Olga Makarkina added that this would affect the development and manufacturing of dosage forms for children.
